Nach Griebl / Presser (2021) ist Ophrys dodekanensis möglicherweise nur eine extreme und relativ stabile Ausprägung der meist fucifloriden Ophrys heterochila. Dann wäre ein Varietätsrang angebracht. Delforge (2016) fasst beide Auspägungen unter Ophrys heterochila zusammen.
